Estes’ New Planning Technology Takes Customer Service to the Next Level
RICHMOND, Va.—Estes has announced the full implementation of its new proprietary logistics planning system that proactively plans and manages freight flow to maximize operational efficiencies and further enhance customer service.
“This planning technology gives team members at our terminals the big picture view of where the freight is in the system,” said Michael Lackey, Estes’ Director of Operations Technology. “It shows them how to best route and consolidate shipments to get them there faster and with the best use of resources.”
The program assists in determining the most efficient routing of freight from the very beginning by taking advantage of real-time information provided by Estes’ onboard communications system. Proactive information about a shipment is delivered across the Estes system from pickup to delivery. This technology reduces the planning time for terminal operations by up to three hours in some cases and also automates a lot of the traditional paperwork.
The planning technology is utilized for outbound, inbound and city delivery services and is fully integrated into Estes’ other technology systems. It also greatly enhances Estes’ expedited/next-day service and results in less freight handling, reduction in transit time and operational costs, and most importantly, satisfied customers.
