Estes Express Lines Announces General Rate Increase

To our valued customers:

At Estes, we are dedicated to providing you with consistently reliable and cost-effective service. To continue our standard of service, we maintain solid fiscal discipline by balancing costs with income. As a result, we find it necessary to implement a price increase on our current EXLA 500 and 550 base rates averaging 4.5% effective Monday,
January 5, 2015.

The decision to take an increase was made only after careful evaluation of the current fiscal environment. The most prominent issue is the combination of growing freight transportation needs with the driver shortage. The increasingly tight supply-demand dynamic requires us to offer more competitive compensation and benefit packages to attract and retain qualified drivers. In addition, we’re committed to a continued investment in equipment that will keep our network functioning at peak performance. In 2014, we invested over $220 million in equipment to increase capacity, reduce claims and improve efficiency. Finally, new technology is an ongoing requirement for safety, efficiency and reliability.

So you can plan ahead, updated rates for the EXLA 500 or 550 base rates will be available for download from the
PC Rater Download page here on our website beginning December 29, 2014. For individual rate quotes, call your
local Estes terminal or one of our rating specialists at 866-ESTES4U (378-3748), and press 12.

Please feel free to contact your Estes sales representative with any questions, and as always, we appreciate your understanding and thank you for allowing Estes to be your transportation services provider.

Sincerely,
Paul J. Dugent
Vice President, Pricing
