Driving With Estes

Driving with Estes

As a leading LTL freight carrier, Estes knows that we earn our reputation of outstanding service mainly through our drivers. Their professional approach and strong rapport with customers are legendary. From pickup to line-haul on to delivery, drivers make a huge difference every step of the way. That’s why we compensate well and observe strict standards for experience, conduct and safety. Not just any driver makes the cut when applying to our company. You’ve got to have the motivation to excel at it and take pride in doing your job extremely well. As a result of a culture that supports these high standards, our driver retention rate is a lot higher than the national average.

Home Time

In a 2014 survey conducted by Randall Reilly media, more than 67% of truck drivers surveyed said the thing they wanted to change the most about a career in trucking was “to have more time at home.”

At Estes, we don’t just “get” that, we do something about it. Our hub-and-spoke, regional operations mean that over 90% of our drivers are home daily or every other day. We offer dedicated runs for those who like the familiarity of a regular route, and we keep regular schedules to provide our drivers with the opportunity to enjoy life outside of work.

Competitive Pay and Benefits

Estes’ regional over-the-road drivers are paid by the mile, with average annual compensation in 2014 of $75,000. Our local drivers also enjoy outstanding schedules and pay designed to compete in today‚Äôs marketplace. And all Estes drivers have access to a full range of company benefits, company-provided uniforms, paid lodging, cell phone reimbursement and bonus eligibility.

New, First-Rate Equipment

In 2014, more than 40% of the tractors in our fleet were 2 years old or less, and by the end of 2015, that number will be closer to 60%. And, every year when we look to invest in new equipment, the first people we ask about what’s new, needed or wanted are our drivers and technicians.

The Latest Technology for Keeping Our Drivers Safe

We hire drivers who are 150% committed to safety, which is why we have one of the best safety records in the LTL industry. But in addition to their top-notch driving skills, Estes drivers have the added assurance that all new tractors are equipped with the latest safety technology that includes roll-stability and collision-avoidance systems.

Electronic Logs and PeopleNet for Hassle-Free, Accurate Record Keeping
Electronic Logs

Estes invests in technology and onboard systems that help eliminate excess paperwork. Our drivers love the convenience and utility of our electronic logging system. And new applications are continuously developed to help with truck maintenance, fuel efficiency and dispatch functions.
