Canada Border-Crossing Procedures

Advanced Commercial Information (ACI)

ACI is the Canada border security program that requires all Canada-bound commercial cargo documentation to be electronically transmitted to the Canada Border Services Agency and processed prior to the cargo's arrival at the border.

One Well-Timed Email

All a shipper needs to do is email the customs documentation as early as possible to estespars@estes-express.com using the following guidelines:

  • No later than the time of pickup
  • No later than 2:00 p.m. the day of pickup for next-day shipments

Important Email Tips

  • Putting the PRO number in the subject line is not required, but it may help you manage email trails.
  • Preferred file formats are PDFs or TIFs.
  • Only include one PRO per email, making sure the PRO number is on the first page of the attached file.
  • All customs documentation for a single PRO should be in one PDF or TIF, with the BOL with the PRO number (and barcode if possible) as the first page of the attachment.
  • Make sure the customs broker's name and contact information are on the BOL.
  • Since it's an automated inbox don't put any shipment details in the body of the email you're sending to estespars@estes-express.com
  • Send any additional questions, comments or requests to canada@estes-express.com, or call 1-866-ESTES4U (378-3748), press 43 and choose the Canada Specialist option.
