Estes Recognized As Top Company For Women In Transportation

Richmond, VA—For the seventh consecutive year, Estes has been named one of the Top 50 Companies for Women to Work in Transportation by the Women In Trucking Association, Inc. (WIT). Estes was also named as one of the company’s “Elite 30,” which is made up of the companies that generate the largest number of votes.

“It remains a priority for Estes to seek out, cultivate and leverage the talents of a diversified workforce,” said Carrie Johnstone, vice president of customer experience and innovation. “Women are invaluable to our success – across all departments – and we will continue to empower and support their growth any way that we can.”

According to WIT, companies are selected for upholding corporate cultures that foster gender diversity, offer competitive compensation and benefits, accommodate flexible hours and family/life balance, and provide professional development and career advancement opportunities.

“Companies named to this prestigious list must demonstrate corporate attributes that are essential to any successful enterprise committed to gender diversity as part of their corporate strategy. Qualifying companies to this list involves a two-step process. First, nominations by companies are carefully reviewed to ensure they meet a minimum threshold of qualifications. Then the final ballot of companies is voted on by individuals in the industry. This is the seventh year of this prestigious recognition program, and it garnered a record number of more than 31,000 votes to identify and validate the final companies named to the list,” says Brian Witt, strategic advisor for WIT.

The Richmond-based transportation leader is also a five-time recipient of Forbes’ America’s Best Top Employers Award and was included in Forbes’ 2023 and 2022 Best Large Employers and Best Employers for Women lists. Estes was also recently named to Newsweek’s America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity and America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women.
